हे अब्बा पिता हमारे (He Abba Pita Hamare) – Lyrics, Meaning & Translation
Below you will find the full lyrics, English translation, and the profound biblical meaning behind this beautiful Hindi musical adaptation of The Lord’s Prayer.
Lyrics /
English Translation
O our Abba Father, our life rests upon Your support,
You are our loving Father, the Sustainer (Provider) of the universe.
May Your kingdom come upon this earth, may Your name be victorious (praised),
Whatever You desire for us (Your will), may we receive that upon this earth.
Give us our daily food (bread), and forgive our sins,
Grant us the grace to forgive everyone, do not let us fall into temptation,
And save us from evil – 3.
Spiritual Meaning & Theme
This beautiful hymn is a direct, poetic adaptation of The Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13. It takes the foundational prayer of the Christian faith and turns it into a melodious worship song.
- Abba Father: The opening line uses the deeply intimate Aramaic term “Abba” (Romans 8:15). It reminds believers that the Creator of the universe is not a distant force, but a loving, personal Father who sustains our daily lives.
- Thy Kingdom Come: The second stanza is a plea for God’s sovereignty on earth (Dhara). It is a prayer of surrender, asking that our earthly lives align completely with whatever God’s heavenly will desires for us.
- Provision and Forgiveness: The final stanza covers our physical and spiritual needs. We ask for our daily bread (Pratidin ka aahaar), but more importantly, we ask for the divine grace (Kripa) to forgive others just as God has forgiven our own sins, ultimately pleading for spiritual protection against the enemy’s temptations.
